Healthy Aging Tips for Women

Summer is here—and while the heat and long days can be a lot, they’re also an invitation to slow down and reconnect with yourself. If you’ve found yourself wondering, “When did we get so busy again?” or “Do I feel my age?” —you’re not alone.  I have always insisted that you are only as old as you feel!  (So some days I feel more like a teenage queen and other days I feel ready for the nursing home — so let’s get to the heart of the matter!!!!)

Believe it or not there really are a few tried and true things to youthful aging. Let’s talk about what it really means to age well.

1. Move Your Body Gently, But Often

Tip: Prioritize Mobility Over Intensity

You don’t need intense workouts to stay youthful—gentle movement like walking, yoga, or even skipping (yes, skipping!) can do wonders. The key is listening to your body and meeting it where it is today.

2. Eat Vibrantly, Hydrate Deeply

Tip: Fuel Your Body with Nutrients It Needs

Let’s face it, the nutritional quality of our foods is declining at a rapid pace.  As we age, our bodies crave nutrient-dense foods. I love my one cup of coffee but hydration is essential—think beyond plain water by adding minerals and electrolytes that help your body truly absorb what it needs.

3. Sleep is the Most Underrated Anti-Aging Tool

Tip: Honor Your Circadian Rhythm

For me, this might be the most underestimated youthful aging tip I can share.  Sure, I knew I required sleep, but I didn’t realize that as I age, I actually require MORE. Technology (yes your phone! And the constant scrolling), and stress and even inflammatory foods disrupt your circadian rhythm, as does sugar and alcohol.  Prioritizing sleep (and even scheduling downtime after busy social nights) helps your body and mind reset.

4. Natural Skincare that Supports Healthy Aging

Tip: Less is More

I use very little on my face and body. When it comes to youthful skin aging, the less products you can use on your skin, the better.  I do use natural oils to help replenish the youthful look and lock in hydration!  I also use a non toxic sunscreen ALL THE TIME! I have had too many skin cancer scares so if I am out in the sun, I want to be sure I am covered up. But I try to avoid daily makeup, if that sounds like too much of a stretch, try having a make-up free day once a week. Your skin will love you for it.

5. Nature, Birds, and a Slower Pace

Tip: Let Nature Be Your Therapist

Being outdoors—watering plants, bird watching, or walking at sunrise— is soothing, peaceful and truly promotes safety and serenity. If mosquitos prevent you from wanting to spend time outside, try natural oils like lavender, tea tree, or peppermint, to repel them.

6. Stay Young Through Meaningful Connection

Tip: Community Keeps You Vibrant

Spend time with neighbors, friends, and loved ones. A shared glass of wine, a spontaneous dog walk, or chatting with someone new all help us stay connected—and connected people age better.

The moral of the story is that aging isn’t about chasing youth—it’s about living fully, loving deeply, and caring well for our bodies and minds. Let’s swap out stress and strive for slowing down and soaking up what truly matters. You deserve to feel good, no matter your age.
